The Giraffe Centre
The Langata Giraffe Centre is situated on both the edge of the Nairobi National Park and the edge of the residential area known as Karen. It resides on the grounds of Giraffe Manor, formerly the private home of Jock and Betty Leslie-Melville. It is now an inn, where during lunch, guests can expect to see a giraffe's head swooping in a window in the dining room, begging for food. The park has a small herd of Rothschild's Giraffe, which are an endangered species, and at the visitors' centre there is a building with a walkway at just below the full height of an adult Giraffe. There you can feed them with specially prepared pellets provided by the staff. Great fun for all, not just the kids!
Karen Blixen and Giraffe Centre

After tea at the Giraffe Centre, return to Nairobi.

The Carnivore Restaurant
From £32 per person
The Carnivore is considered 'Africa's Greatest Eating Experience'. Whole joints of meat - legs of lamb and pork, haunches of exotic meat (Ostrich, Zebra and crocodile when available), rumps of beef, sirloins, racks of lamb, spare ribs, sausages, chicken wings, skewered kidneys and other tasty morsels - are roasted on traditional Maasai swords over a huge charcoal pit that dominates the entrance of the restaurant. Constantly basted and turned until cooked to perfection, the meat is succulent and well flavoured. An army of carvers move from table to table carrying the Maasai swords laden with different prime meats which they carve onto the sizzling, cast iron plates in front of each guest. Accompanying the meat feast is a wide selection of salads and vegetable side dishes, and a variety of exotic sauces made from the Carnivore's own recipes. A vegetarian menu is also offered.
Includes a 3-course meal + coffee and return transfers from Nairobi hotel to the restaurant for either lunch or dinner.
