The &Beyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is situated on the southwestern rim of the Ngorongoro Crater high above the crater floor offering spectacular views of the landscape and variety of wildlife. As the most luxurious lodge in the Ngorongoro conservation area it enjoys magnificent views of the World heritage site which is often referred to as the 8th wonder of the world. You will be surrounded by wildlife from Morning til Night with Zebra often coming to the lodge to graze.
Accommodation at &Beyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge:
The accommodation is split between three camps, North and South camp each have 12 suites and Tree camp has just six all with a private butler service. Inspired by the Masai Manyatta the lodge is one of the most architecturally created lodges in Africa with their banana leaf ceilings and grass roofs. All of the suites are large with king size beds and have an en suite bathroom with chandelier lit bathtub and shower, comfortable leather armchairs sit in front of the open log fires and the private veranda is screened by raw silk curtains. The large glass windows in the bedroom, bathroom and lounge areas offer outstanding views. The suites at the Tree Camp are slightly smaller and the views offered are through the trees.
Facilities at &Beyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge:
Each of the camps has a sitting and dining room as well as an outdoor dining area and viewing decks. The North and South Camps are identical, the domed dining area serving Pan-African cuisine is next to the lounge and is an extravagant room with high ceilings, draping raw silk curtains, walls panelled with a deep wood and a fire place. The lounge areas have roofs crafted from banana leaves, and are magnificently decorated with large beaded chandeliers, comfortable velveteen sofas and raw silk curtains. Each of the rooms has a large central chandelier crafted by the Masai. meals can also be taken on the outdoor dining deck. At the Tree Lodge the lounge and dining area are open plan with burnt orange walls, dark wooden floors and soft furnishings. In the lounge area you will find inviting velveteen sofas around a hand crafted table where you can sit and enjoy a drink. With its floor to ceiling windows along the front wall this area has awe inspiring views across the crater and the terrace below offers an amazing place to enjoy breakfast.
There is a shop at the Lodge which offers a variety of items to purchase including beautiful jewellery, hand made leather belts and hand carvings. you are also able to purchase simpler items like toiletries and postcards here. Bush walks are offered around the lodge as well as excursions for to the Olduvai Gorge. If you wish to take some time out you can use the library at the lodge to relax.
